Inspiration and Style

Expression and textures

Irene Pérez’s style is characterized by a powerful mix of expressive brushstrokes and textures, which give life to portraits that go beyond the physical. Instead of simply representing external appearance, Pérez chooses to alter the anatomy and facial features, seeking to reflect the psychological pressure that affects each individual. His works are a psychological portrait of the viewer, in which internal emotions, often repressed, emerge as fundamental elements. For Irene, these emotional representations are essential to understand the process of growth and learning.

In her most recent series, Irene uses the figure of the man in a suit as a symbol of success, but presents it from a perspective that invites reflection, exploring the tensions and contradictions that this social image entails.

would be better than now, but we cannot think that by reaching another place we are going
to get rid of all the negative emotions or feelings that only make us more human;
